"One-Stop-Shop for Accessible Tourism in Europe" (OSSATE)
1st International OSSATE Workshop, London, UK. 12-13 May 2005

"OSSATE" is the name of a European initiative, co-funded by the European Commission's "eContent" Programme to develop a pan-European information service on the accessibility of tourist destinations and venues. The goal of the planned e-Service is to enable people with disabilities - and others who experience access problems when on holiday - to find appropriate and reliable information about destinations, easily and effectively. Customer information about the accessibility of tourist venues varies tremendously, depending on which country you live in, and where you plan to go. Language is a significant barrier, and the wide range of buildings, facilities and access standards across Europe only adds to the complexity. OSSATE is building on the European experience that is has been achieved in this field, and will provide an integrated approach to on-line and mobile cross-border services for accessible tourism. You are warmly invited to participate in the 1st International OSSATE Workshop, where you will join fellow delegates from the European tourism industry, National and Regional Tourist Boards, NGOs, accessibility agencies and ICT providers. This event will be a meeting point for learning and sharing knowledge, which will open up new opportunities for pan-European co-operation on accessible tourism issues.
