The Association of
the Universities of Košice
The Association of the Universities of Košice (AUK) was established by:
on May 16, 1994. The founding document was signed by the Rectors
of all the founding member Universities.
The main goals of this Association, as defined in the Constitution
(in Slovak), are as follows:
- mutual co-operation and co-ordination in the area of international co-operation and projects
- co-ordination and collaboration in the area of university libraries development
- co-operation at the development of academic computer network (CANET)
- co-ordination of achieving the study compatibility within the region and with the EU states
- co-operation in other mutually beneficial fields
The AUK is registered in Kosice, Slovak Republic as a non-governmental not-for-profit
organisation.
The Association is headed by the General Assembly consisting of the rector and vice-rector of each member university.
The General Assembly is chaired by the rector of one University. The rectors take turns in this position with one-year
period. A special contract has to be prepared for the implementation of all activities requiring legal and/or financial
commitment from interested parties. The contract will become valid after its approval by all involved partners.
For the year 1998 the President of AUK is Assoc.Prof. Milos Somora, Ph.D., Rector of the Technical University
of Kosice.

NEWSLETTER
The AUK, within the TEMPUS Phare SJEP 11304-96 Strategic
University Management in Administration (SUMA) supported by the European Commission, started to publish the
Newsletter of the Association of the Universities of Kosice.
