The Department of Languages provides foreign language courses for all the TU faculties (excluding the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies in Prešov). The foreign language courses are

  • compulsory at the Faculty of Economics (EkF), Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnology (FBERG)– study programme: Geo-tourism, Faculty of Aeronautics (LF)

  • obligatory selective at the Faculty of Metallurgy (HF), Faculty of Fine Arts (FU), Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnology

  • voluntary at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (FEI), Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (SjF), Faculty of Civil Engineering (SvF) and Faculty of Aeronautics

The Department provides one-to-one tutorials for full-time as well as part-time PhD students and it administers the final exam in a foreign language that PhD students have to take at the end of their study

EkF

At the Faculty of Economics the Department runs two compulsory foreign language courses: 1st foreign language and 2nd foreign language.

The 1st foreign language course (1. CJ I-IV) is a 4-term course followed by an obligatory selective one: Special purpose course in a foreign language.

Students who passed an entrance exam in a given foreign language are automatically enrolled on the 1st foreign language course (English, German or French) in that given language.

The 2nd foreign language course ( 2. CJ I-II) (English, German, French or Russian) is a 2-term course.

 

Geo – FBERG

The Department of Languages runs two compulsory five-term foreign language courses for the students of Geo-tourism, FBERG: 1st foreign language and 2nd foreign language.

The students enrol on the1st foreign language course (English or German) before the winter term of the first year starts. At the end of the winter term in the third year students take a final exam in a foreign language for tourism.

Before the winter term of the first year starts, students might test themselves by clicking on the Vry testo-Geo (Sample tests-Geo) button above.

At the end of the 2nd foreign language course (German, English, French or Russian) students get a graded credit.

The Department of Languages provides English tuition at the Faculty of Aeronautics within a compulsory and voluntary course, as outlined below:
