MEASUREMENT OF ELT 200 IN THE ELECTROMAGNETIC ATTENUATION CHAMBER AND ANALYSING IT UNDER IN REAL USE

In the article, authors deal with present situation about the issue of emergency locator transmitters „ELT„or „EPIRB´s„. The centre of their interest is to verify the correct functionality of those devices in condition of attenuation in electromagnetic attenuation chamber, which is the avionic department of faculty of aeronautics equipped with. The authors consider measuring of that devices within of the study program as an appropriate environment for experimenting but they also want, by the implementing the knowledge from practice to foreshadow the options of searching the improvements. It is mostly about solving of different sort of problems connected mainly with unintentional transmitting of emergency signal or self-activating of „ELTs„.

IMPACT OF ADDITIONAL ANTENNA ON ANTENNA COUPLING

This paper deals with impact of additional antenna on mutual coupling of two VHF antennas. All the three antennas are tuned to the same constant frequency, placed on an idealized tail boom of a helicopter. The varied parameters are common distances of antennas and resistance of the additional antenna. It provides mainly the results of simulations, which were made on this subject, accompanied by real-life measures taken on an experimental model of tail boom.

AIRPORT POSITIONING SYSTEM

The article deals with III. generation radio compasses quadrature signal decoding, which could be used for determining the object’s position on the airport surface. In terms of the volume of flights, for air traffic it has become more and more difficult to create safe movement of aircraft in the air and on the ground. Aircraft surface tracking after landing, before take – off on taxiway are paid significant amount of attention. Also another aircraft and motor vehicle surface tracking system may be used as the presented local positioning system, which is based on the principle of III. generation radio compasses. Such a system design uses triangulation method application with Google Maps. The principle allows real time displaying the position and movement of the object. It is expected, that object’s airport surface tracking will be provided with relatively high accuracy. Taking into account the innovative idea, the accuracy issue would not be evaluated in this article.

METHODICAL ERROR OF LOW ALTITUDE ALTIMETERS AND POSSIBILITIES OF ITS IMPROVEMENT

This article is focused on the present state in the field of the accuracy of measurement of the real height of the aircraft above the terrain with a radioaltimeter. Authors deal with the analysis of beat frequency generation and also with the reasons of formation of the methodical error of radioaltimeter. On the base of those knowledge and findings this article also implies the solution and the attitudes to the improvement of the accuracy of radioaltimeter by reducing of the methodical error.

ANTENNA MODEL FOR AIRCRAFT BROADBAND COMUNICATION

Air traffic in recent years has seen a substantial increase in the amount of transported persons and material. This immediately also increased demand for quality of radio connection, transfer of spoken information as well as navigational data and data in general. As is well known, antennas are transmission elements between the power transmitter and a free media, where electromagnetic waves propagate as information carrier. Due to the position of antennas in the transmission chain, it is necessary to know the frequency band at which they are tuned. This frequency band determines range in which antennas work (transmit or receive). We can have transmitter or receiver of highest quality, but if the antenna is not properly adjusted, we will never get maximum performance of the transmitter or receiver.

MATHEMATICAL MODELS OF CHANNEL AND ACTUAL SPED OF MACH

The aim of this article is to explain simulation model with focus on computing flight parameters such as flight height and speed in the programming environment of MATLAB to reader. The article is based on analytical, mathematical and simulation principles. The problem of atmosphere pressure with correspondence to the international standard atmosphere, flight height and speed simulation computing, Mach´s number computing and the dilemma of the impact of angle of attack and angle of yaw on the speed of flight is solved in the article. The effect of interchanging real and standard static temperature on computing the flight height as well as the matter of air pressure, air temperature and air density changes inflicted by weather alternation are considered in the article.

THE POSITION OF AUTOMATIC DEPENDENT SURVEILLANCE AIRCRAFT – ADS-B

The article deal with a new system Automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast (ADS-B), which is currently implemented in real practice air traffic control. Description of the system is in terms of principle of action, application mode S and current status of its use in practice. The aspect of perspective of development regards about the third generation system, which allows tracking and recording the flight path of the aircrafts. Available information at websites was analysed in the work. The described new technology of monitoring aircraft positions can greatly increase the capacity of airspace management. Simultaneously it’s using manifold increase safety of aircraft transport and in the co-operation with multilateration systems forms the basis of a compatible globally network of monitoring air traffic.

IMPACT OF HELICOPTER DESIGN ON RADIATION PATTERN OF ITS ATNENNAS

This paper considers as the helicopter body affects directional characteristics of antennas. The article takes into account the effect of antenna position to achieve the best results in terms of antenna performance. It examines the possibility of measurements on scale models of aircraft, Mi-8 model in 1:20 scale. To obtain reliable results of measurement we are using depolarization panel. This article contains three measurements, two measurements with different positioning of measuring antenna and a separate measurement of the antenna as a standard of measurement. An interesting result is significant loss in specific settings of the measuring antenna. The results obtained to better understand the impact of the shape of a helicopter fuselage on transmission characteristics of antennas. Achievements of the thesis can be considered for future adjustment mounting of antennas and their better possible configuration in order to achieve higher performance.

DIFFRACTION OF EM RADIATION ON HELICOPTER

Problem of impact of helicopter fuselage on establishing radio connection at low altitude is based on flying in real conditions, when loss of radio contact occurs during helicopter landing. This loss of connection can be caused mainly by diffraction of communication signal on tail of the helicopter, or by system of same band antennas used on single helicopter fuselage. This article is oriented on possibility of signal loss caused by diffraction of electromagnetic radiation on helicopter tail boom.

COMPLEX SYSTEMS FOR ELECTRONIC INDICATION AND SIGNALLING OF AIRCRAFTS

This article concerns about analysis of complex systems for indication, signalling and displaying of individual informations on the dashboard of the latest aircrafts. Specifically it deals with the EFIS, ECAM and EICAS systems. The introduction starts with a brief description of EFIS, ECAM and EICAS systems, enclosed with flow diagrams. The EFIS chapter describes in detail the symbol generator and its functions. The next part of the article contains the description and layout of display unit types. The same part explains in detail the layout of Head Down Displays, description of CRT displays, LED displays and LCD displays. The last chapter outlines the prospective indicators (the latest trends of displays), the touch-screen displays.

MUTUAL COUPLING OF THE ANTENNAS ON THE HELICOPTER TAIL

For systems to interact, the frequencies have to be above a specified power threshold, and their spatial as well as their time domain characteristics have to be overlapping. When any EM wave transfers from one system to another the systems are said to be ‘coupled’. This term is used for systems when this occurs unintentionally. At the design stage when positions of antennas are continually being changed, a quick and easy means of estimating the coupling between antennas is required. Computer modeling cannot be used at this stage, since the change of position of one antenna is invariably accompanied by the change of positions of a number of adjacent antennas, and a quick method of determining the impact is required. Additionally it is more satisfactory to perform calculations since the coupling has to be estimated over large combinations of antennas at the design stage, and a spreadsheet is more amenable to the frequent changes that occur during the design stages of a new aircraft or complete systems modification of an existing aircraft.

THE JET-PROPELLED AERO-ENGINE EXHAUST ARRANGEMENT

The article tries to approach the issue of system output, first in terms of distribution and description of the output system, then in terms of temperature control gas output in these systems and also describes a specific set of output engine RD-33rd. Finally a static model developed in the MATLAB environment presents the program of section change nozzles depending on the position of TL. Materials to final processing have been collected from various sources from leading DT, the TU library, teachers at FA and websites.

OPTICAL-ELECTRONIC MODELING OF VOR AND DVOR SYSTEMS

This paper deals with designing three dimensional didactic aid for visualization of creating course information of an airplane using an optical-electronic model of VOR and DVOR systems. The paper contains description of proposed model of the didactical aid which is using optical channel for information transmission. Design of optical-electronic VOR and DVOR systems is carried out in development environment Arduino and in electrotechnical design environment Eagle. Such a didactical model should serve as teaching tool for higher quality education and more effective explanation of VOR and DVOR systems operation principles.

časné lietadlo ako dynamický systém so svojim riadiacim prvkom a mnohými riadenými prvkami a subsystémami predstavuje zložitý

kybernetický systém. Pre vysokú cenovú náročnosť testovania reálneho lietadla a jeho systémov sa vytvárajú matematické modely skúmaných objektov. Príspevok verifikuje prostredníctvom simulačného experimentu pre pozdĺžny pohyb lietadla použiteľnosť a reálnosť teoreticky vykonávaných úvah pre dynamické objekty, ktoré majú charakter leteckého komplexu. V príspevku je ilustrovaná všeobecná teória pozorovateľa, z ktorej vychádza opis identifikačného pozorovateľa, ďalej popisuje dynamicky systém lietadlo, jeho prejav v trenažérovej technike a možné relačné väzby trenažéra na vlastnosti lietadla.

Gro je venované typickým riešeniam identifikácie týchto diagramov na modeli lietadla a na lietadle vo svete. Závereččasť článku pojednáva o anténnom pracovisku na Leteckej fakulte Technickej univerzity v Košiciach, ktoré sa touto problematikou zaoberá.

PLACING ANTENNA ON THE AIRCRAFT SURFACE FOR EFFECTIVE USE OF THEIR ELECTRIC FEATURES

The paper deals with placing antenna on the aircraft surface considering their effective use. Optimal use of placing antenna on the aircraft surface has important influence also on their basic electric parameters which has direct influence on aircraft operation safety. The process of optimation of antenna placement in connection with their installation is equally important for the new aircraft types as well as older ones, which undergo modernisation process, initiated by new legislation for their re-implementation into aircraft operation. Complementary assembly only of one further antenna on aircraft surface can evoke unfavourable reaction of worsening direction characteristics of other antenna because each placement of large number of antenna on relatively small aircraft surface creates antenna system. Then the optimation of antenna systems placement on aircraft surface has considerable influence on the use of avionic systems parameters considering economic and operational costs, flight safety and aircraft operation.

OBZOR A POTENCIÁL EFEKTÍVNOSTI LABORATÓRIA LIRS LM

Obsahom článku je prehľad experimentálnych metód vyúsťujúcich do identifikácie vybraných vlastností prúdového motora typovej rady MPM 20 a ich vplyv na všeobecnú efektívnosť (funkčnú-technickú, ekonomickú, časovú a informačnú). Výsledky identifikácie a výskumu termodynamických vlastností, ktoré boli vykonávané v naturálnom a modelovom prostredí, boli publikované v časopiseckej odbornej a vedeckej literatúre a stali sa tiež inšpiráciou pre napísanie 11 dizertačných prác. Dominujúce inovatívne výstupy a prierezový pohľad na odhad procesnej efektívnosti, sústredený na metódu jej zhodnotenia s perspektívami ďalšieho výskumu, boli publikované v dvoch monografiách.

ANTÉNY PRE APLIKÁCIU NA UAV

Článok je venovaný súčasnému smerovaniu technológie výroby najmodernejších antén pre použitie na UAV a možnosti ďalšieho

vylepšenia ich parametrov. Ide o antény, ktoré sa využívajú v systémoch navigácie a riadenia, teda na zabezpečenie želaného plnenia letových úloh systému UAV. S prihliadnutím na požiadavku malých rozmerov a nízkej hmotnosti musia pri zachovaní elektrických vlastnosti reprezentovať vrcholnú technológiu v tejto oblasti. Pre UAV antény sa musí striktne uvažovať o technických parametroch ako je nízka hmotnosť, malé rozmery ale aj väčšia odolnosť voči interferencii, primeraný zisk a smerové vlastnosti pri veľkej spoľahlivosti. Bezpilotné prostriedky sú v súčasnosti bezpochyby jednou z najrýchlejšie sa rozvíjajúcich oblastí letectva. Prevaha ich výhod (prevádzkové náklady, cena prostriedku, náklady na výcvik operátora) voči pilotovaným prostriedkom je významná. Avšak podobne, ako pri pilotovaných strojoch, aj pri riešení a návrhu bezpilotných prostriedkov musia byť na zreteli ďalšie základné elementy, akými sú napríklad pohonná jednotka, zdroje energie, spôsob riadenia letu a schopnosť niesť užitočnú záťaž a pod.

The reliability of weather radars in conditions of active interference in 9,3 GHz to 9,5GHz frequency band

Resumé:

The weather radars operating in 9,3 GHz to 9,5 GHz band are nowadays most likely installed on airliners decks. From the safety point of view the information from these devices are crucial for informing the pilot about meteorological situation in front of flying aircraft. The need of awareness of meteorological situation at airfield is desirable also for air traffic controllers. Beside this, that information is also greatly required by mass media for their weather forecasting. Due to this, the modern weather radars operating at SHF band are installed on ground. For those on board and land based weather radars a frequency band from 9,3 GHz to 9,5 GHz was legislatively assumed. The uprising number of these weather radars operating at the same frequency band raises the question about their mutual interference. The paper deals with the problem of weather radars operating in 9,3 ÷ 9,5 GHz frequency band in conditions of active interference from land based weather radars operating in the same frequency band.

 

APPLICATION OF PROGRESSIVE ALGORITHMS IN THE AREA OF SMALL TURBOJET ENGINES’ CONTROL

Abstract: The aim of the presented article is to describe the current architectures of the current full authority digital engine control systems (FADEC) and apply these concepts for control of small turbojet engines. The article also deals with implementation of complex situational control algorithms using methods of artificial intelligence for a small turbojet engine MPM-20 in laboratory conditions. The results of the research in this area are formed by the designed adaptive modular framework of complex situational control system for the small turbojet engine MPM-20. This framework has the potential to increase the safety and efficiency of control systems of turbojet engines and is tested in real-world laboratory conditions.

INFLUENCE OF ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS IN THE ENVIROMENT ON COMMON COMMERCIAL RECEIVERS OF SMALL UAV´S

Abstract: Small UAVs have been employed to operate at built – up areas, where on the present the environment is literally overfilled by various radio signals. Besides of the common radio and TV broadcast signals, we can find there also other signals. There are mostly signals from Wi-Fi nets, the internet wireless channels (point to point), radio signals from the mobile phone providers, signals from security wireless cameras etc. Independence of the amplitude of these signals, all of them or a part of them has income also on the input circuits of receivers of the UAV, sub served its role in that zone. In this article, authors analyse the negative phenomenon, which has tendendency to happen if in the area, there is too high intensity of electromagnetic field from various sources. If UAV is flown in that area, subsequently of the high level intensity of the field, the close receiver antenna field start to rise very steeply. Receiver even more, during the suitable conditions evaluates that signal as valid control signal from the pilot or ground station. By this fact, take up an incongruity between the desired control signal and the real value of modulated signal assumed by the receiver. Due to this fact the pilot virtually loses the control over the overall aircraft. The safety so-called “FAIL SAFE“ system is also not activated, because the evaluation logic is not capable to find out of faulty values of that type.

LEGISLATIVE VIEW ON THE FLIGHT SAFETY USING METEOROLOGICAL RADARS

Abstract: Meteorological radars fulfil an important role in the air transport from the viewpoint of providing valuable information for the flight safety about the meteorological situation. There are two kinds of meteorological radars from the point of view of fair operation. Firstly there are ground radars, which follow and analyse meteorological situation within a certain area of a state or in the vicinity of an airport. Secondly there are aircraft board radars, which follow and analyse meteorological situation in front of the flying aircraft. While there are not so many ground radars in a certain limited area, board radars are a part of each transport aircraft. At the same time, one frequency band is legislatively appointed for those radars and board radars even work on the same frequency. Naturally, a question arises about a possibility of the mutual interference, mainly due to the safety during the most demanding part of aircraft landing. The paper deals with a legislative and technical

securing of the use of those radars in relation to the safety of those flights from the viewpoint of the use of one frequency band.

IMPLEMENTATION OF SELECTED FLIGHT REGIMES OF ERGATIC AVIONIC SYSTEM INTO HEURISTIC MODELS

Abstract: Methods of the estimation of stability and controllability of recent ergatic avionic systems (LES) are based on numeric and graphic outputs of flight information recorders. To estimate dynamic stability a time recording of the position of controls in impulse amplitude or width-modulated shape isused separately. A method of the implementation of amplitude modulated signals of suggested heuristic LES model is described in the paper.

SPECIFIC DIAGNOSTI LABORATORY OF AIRCRAFT ANTENNA EQUIPMENT AT THE FACULTY OF AERONAUTICS

The paper presents realized „Construction of a research and developement laboratory for airborne antenna equipment“ project, within which attenuation chamber has been built and accordingly equipped at the Department of Avionics, Faculty of Aviation at TUKE. This chamber enables and measurement in the field of high-frequecy technology, but within the project it will be oriented on measurement in the field of aircraft antenna technology.
